How a $2 Million HR Disaster Led to Australia's Most Effective HR System
Early in my career, I watched a thriving Melbourne manufacturing company with 85 employees get destroyed by a single HR mistake. A poorly handled termination led to a discrimination claim, a Fair Work investigation, and ultimately $2.3 million in penalties, legal fees, and lost productivity.
The owner, a brilliant engineer who'd built the business from scratch, had to sell his family home to keep the company afloat. His biggest regret? "I knew I needed help with HR, but I kept putting it off. I thought I could handle it myself."
That moment changed everything for me.
